CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR FACILITATION & MANAGEMENT OF MEYERTON CBD STREET MARKET AT THE INFORMAL TRADING STALLS IN MIDVAAL LOCAL MUNICIPALITY
Midvaal Local Municipality invites qualified and experienced market facilitators, event coordinators, and service providers to submit proposals to host, manage, and facilitate a vibrant street market at the Informal Trading Stalls, located at the corner of Junius Street and Eufees Crescent Street, Meyerton CBD (adjacent to the Municipal Offices).
This initiative is part of the Municipality’s efforts to:
- Stimulate local economy
- Promote small business development
- Enhance tourism in Meyerton and the surrounding areas
- Create a family-friendly, cultural, and lifestyle destination
The Municipality will make its stalls available at no cost, while the selected service provider will be responsible for facilitating and managing the market operations.
MARKET VISION
The Municipality aims to establish a dynamic, community driven weekend market that showcases the diversity, talent, and creativity of Midvaal.
The Municipality welcomes proposals for hosting markets which offer (but not limited to):
- Food & Beverage (street food, baked goods,
- refreshments)
- Arts & Crafts (handmade goods, décor, gifts)
- Fashion & Accessories (clothing, jewellery,
- footwear)
- Health & Wellness (natural products, fitness,
- beauty)
- Entertainment & Leisure (live music, kids’ activities)
- Fresh Produce & Organics
Exclusions
The following business types will not be permitted:
- Alcohol, tobacco, and gambling related businesses
- Illegal or pirated goods (e.g., counterfeit DVDs, CDs)
- Any other business deemed unlawful or inappropriate
ROLE OF THE SERVICE PROVIDER
The appointed service provider will be responsible for:
- Conceptualising and managing the market event(s)
- Vendor recruitment, allocation, and management
- Logistics coordination (security, cleaning, stall layout, waste management, etc.)
- Marketing and promotion to attract vendors, visitors, and tourists
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and by-law regulations
- Creating an inclusive, safe, and welcoming space for all participants
CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
Submissions will be evaluated based on:
- Experience and/or Track Record – Proven capacity to host/manage community markets or large events
- Operational Capacity – Ability to coordinate logistics, compliance, and vendor management
- Community Development Commitment – Contribution towards local economic development, SMME support, and inclusivity
- Tourism Impact – Ability to attract both residents and visitors to Meyerton
- Innovation – Creative ideas to make the market a unique attraction
