The Development and Planning Department invites Midvaal Co-operatives, SMMEs and Youth led enterprises to participate in the Financial Management and Economic Principles Workshop. The workshop intends to offer the business financial management thinking and tools necessary to measure the performance of enterprises.

The concepts to be covered include costs and revenue including average costs, average revenue, marginal costs, marginal revenue and optimisation of profit. In addition, the training will guide on branding & marketing methods. The details of the workshop are as follows:

WAIVING OF INFORMAL TRADING PERMIT FEES FOR INFORMAL TRADERS IN THE CBD INFORMAL TRADING STALLS

The Municipality is pleased to announce that  Council has resolved to waive the informal trading permit fees for informal traders in the Meyerton CBD. This decision aims to promote economic opportunities and support local entrepreneurship.

We invite all interested individuals and traders to apply for informal trading stall permits without the burden of associated fees. This waiver applies to new applications as well as renewals of the current traders and shall be valid for a period of 6 months.

The Municipality recognizes the importance of informal trading in promoting the local economy and providing livelihood opportunities. By removing financial barriers, we seek to encourage participation in our informal trading sector.

Interested parties are encouraged to visit the Municipality, Development and Planning offices to obtain application forms and further information regarding the waiver process.

REPLACEMENT OF OLD ELECTRICITY PRE-PAID METERS

Dear Midvaal Residents,

Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) wish to remind residents of the replacement of old electricity pre-paid meters for TID compliance.

Midvaal Local Municipality have appointed KEO group as the professional service provider to carry out with the project.

The project runs across Midvaal areas of electricity supply. The appointed service provider personnel will require access to all properties affected.

Residents are requested to punch in all outstanding token before the replacement of the meter. Please note that meters are replaced for free no resident should pay any cost, however there are instances where the residents will have to re-arrange the wiring of electricity supply which might involve some cost, in such instances the affected property owner will be informed.

Residents are also advised that it is a Municipality By-laws offence to prevent/evade an officially accredited service provider to carry out a task. Members of the public who do so and harass staff will be penalized.

Your cooperation and support will be much appreciated

The KEO group personnel will be wearing clearly marked clothing or reflectors with identification, will be in possession of an appointment letter from Midvaal Municipality and vehicles with KEO group logo.

Temporary Road Closure South Road in Valley Settlements 22 – 26 April 2024

Dear Midvaal Residents,

Notice is hereby given of a planned road reinstatement by paving blocks of a portion of South Road in Valley Settlements. The  road crossing  reinstatement will affect motorists driving on South Road, however a temporary by-pass with a stop–and–go operation will be in place to divert the traffic from the construction area.

The work is scheduled to start at 07:00 on 22 April 2024 and conclude on 26 April  2024.

Planned Water Interruption: Ward 3 – 18 April 2024

Dear Midvaal Residents,

Notice is hereby given of a planned water interruption for the tie-in of the new UPVC network. The team will try to reduce the affected area by isolating Jean and Villjoen Streets, should this fail, a larger area will be affected.

Areas that may be affected includes:

  • Rothdene
  • Kookrus

The interruption is scheduled for the 18th of April 2024 from 08h00 to 17h00.

A water tanker will be stationed at OK Rothdene on the day.

MIDVAAL LOCAL MUNICIPALITY TO HOST THE SECOND ANNUAL FIT TO FIGHT FIRE COMPETITION AND EXPO

Midvaal Local Municipality is proud to announce its second annual Fit to Fight Fire Competition and Expo set to take place on 25 May 2024, at the Meyerton Sports Club. Following the resounding success of last year’s event, this year’s competition promises even more thrills, as Fire and Rescue teams compete to become the fittest firefighting team in South Africa.

The competition, open to Fire and Rescue teams from across the country, will witness participants engaging in rigorous challenges that test their skills, agility, and teamwork. The competition consists of five challenging stages that will highlight the dedication and readiness of the firefighters who stand at the forefront of safeguarding communities:

Stage 1 – Hammer Drill (Sponsored by Industrial Fire and Hazard Control)

Stage 2 – Mannikin Drag (Sponsored by Survival Technology)

Stage 3 – Tower Run (Sponsored by Industrial Fire and Hazard Control)

Stage 4 – Tyre Flip

Stage 5 – Ladder Run (Sponsored by Industrial Fire and Hazard Control)

Furthermore, teams can enter an EMS patient simulation competition, hosted by EpicEM and North-West University as well as a Confined Space Rescue Simulation hosted by Dräger.

In addition to the competitions, the Fit to Fight Fire Expo will feature a myriad of industry exhibitions and demonstrations. Attendees can also witness displays of rescue equipment such as the jaws of life, K9 units in action, CPR demonstrations, fire extinguishing techniques, and expert snake handling.

The Fit to Fight Fire Expo offers something for everyone. Attendees can marvel at some of the country’s finest emergency vehicles and fire engines on display, engage in interactive activities for kids, enjoy performances by local artists, and much more.

This event is not just a competition; it’s a celebration of the unwavering commitment of our firefighting and emergency response teams. Midvaal Local Municipality extends a warm invitation to fire and rescue teams nationwide to join us for this experience.

2024/2025 MIDVAAL BUDGET REVIEW PUBLIC MEETINGS FOR MIDVAAL LOCAL MUNICIPALITY

Notice is hereby given in terms of Chapter 4 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000 read with Section 22 of the Local Government: Municipal Finance Management Act, Act 56 of 2003, that the Midvaal Local Municipality has tabled the draft budget, and tariffs for the year 2024/2025. During April 2024 the Municipality will be conducting its public engagements.
