Midvaal
good value for money
The Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services, Cliff Hartman cut his teeth in business as a young man in Meyerton in 1976.
The rural and village atmosphere and the affordability of Midvaal was a big draw card, so he decided to keep his roots firmly entrenched in the region.
A priority for Hartman is encouraging public participation in municipal issues.
He is passionate about environmental health, having a litter-free Midvaal and keeping it clean.
“Our clinics in the area are of a very high standard and we have free Internet kiosks at our libraries."
“We also have mobile clinics and libraries that visit our rural and disadvantaged communities, which are all part of our drive to provide good facilities to our residents.”
The landfill sites fall within his portfolio and Hartman is working towards making residents more conscious of recycling.
He says a household recycling pilot project in Henley-on-Klip is well supported and very successful.
Security is a priority in Midvaal and Hartman says CCTV cameras in the central business district are monitored 24 hours and seven days a week, by a security company which has been contracted by the municipality for a period of three years.
“Our fire and traffic services in Midvaal are of a very high standard. Fire services are also rendered to the farming community in the event of veld fires, which can threaten crops and livestock.”
Hartman is enthusiastic about local government in Midvaal, about the clearly well-oiled municipality and providing the best services at affordable cost to the ratepayers and residents.
