MPAC

MPAC (Municipal Public Accounts Committees) is a committee of the Municipality in terms of Section 79 (1) of the Municipal Structures Act, No 117 of 1998 (MSA).

The MPAC (Midvaal) was established in 2016 after the municipal elections and the Chairperson and members of the Committee are appointed by the Council. The Committee has approved Terms of Reference (ToR) to guide its operations and the MPAC can make recommendations in line with its functions and ToR. MPAC consists of seven (7) appointed Councillors, three (3) Seconde’s and two (2) support staff members. MPAC usually meets quarterly or as otherwise required.

The most important task of the MPAC is to consider the Annual Report and to provide an oversight report thereon. This latter report is submitted to the Council for consideration and published for information of the public.
