On 27 February 2017, Midvaal Local Municipality’s Executive Mayor Cllr Bongani Baloyi visited two primary schools, De Deur and Michael Rua to donate dignity packs to the Girl-child in grades 6 and 7. Mayor Bongani and his team received a warm welcome from both the school management and learners whom were happy to interact and take selfies with the Mayor. The Executive Mayor delivered a motivational talk to the learners and encouraged them to take education seriously as it will open doors to them as future professionals and leaders.
A further 200 dignity packs were handed over to Child Welfare Meyerton. The Centre provide services and care to orphaned, abandoned, neglected, abused and vulnerable children in the Meyerton and surrounding areas. The dignity packs will assist in instilling a sense of belonging, love and care to the girls, said Victoria Smith, Centre Manager.
