On 19 February 2018, four companies under the municipality’s Kgatelopele Youth Development Programme were awarded sub-contract agreements by Re-Solve Consulting, to undertake work for the War on Leaks Programme.

The programme is aimed at repairing water leaks from indigent properties in Sicelo and Lakeside.

The participants were selected through a rigorous selection process, which included an extensive interview process with Re-Solve and the Midvaal Local Municipality. Following this process, four companies were selected and awarded the sub-contracting agreements. The programme is expected to begin early April after completion of a two-week theoretical training with the companies.

The selected companies include Cypure Poultry Farm, Goes Painting and Tiling, Woodpeakers Garden Tree Services and Livestock and Poultry Butchery.

MMC for Engineering Services Peter Texeira officiated the handing over ceremony and welcomed the appointment of the youth entrepreneurs. “I urge you to take this opportunity with utmost enthusiasm and commitment. This is only the beginning, as we will continue to support you through various opportunities and initiatives,” said Texeira.

Re-Solve Consulting Project Manager Connie Ras also congratulated the participants, wishing them a healthy and productive working relationship with the organisation.

The Kgatelopele Youth Development Programme was launched in January 2017, and is aimed at ensuring the municipality provides support in the development and empowerment of young entrepreneurs.
